Bengaluru: DG & IGP R K Datta that stern action will be taken against those spreading rumours on social networking sites and some newspapers over restriction by police to celebrate Ganesha festival. Some people have spread rumours that organisers have to bring stamp paper and security deposit to take permission from the police department to install Ganesha idols.
A section of the media had quoted the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) stating that the police have demanded deposits from organizations in Mangaluru, Puttur and other parts of the state to carry out Ganesha processions. Police has dismissed the news.
Police also said that the murder case of RSS worker Sharath Madiwala in Bantwal was well planned and the reason behind it was not communal hatred.
