Bengaluru, DHNS: Linguistic minority medical and dental colleges are hopeful that the ongoing impasse with regard to seat sharing and fees will end by Monday, leading to the freeing of 237 MBBS and 100 BDS seats for the?CET?seat matrix.

D A Kalpaja, director, Vydehi Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Centre, told Deccan Herald, “The linguistic minority colleges are having a meeting on?Monday and we hope that we will be able to sort out the matter.”

Kalpaja said that there were a number of issues that needed clarity before finalising the deal.

“There are certain points in the agreement that need to be made clearer. For example, the government has asked us to go for a common counselling with the religious minority institutions. How do we go about doing this? This and many other matters need to be resolved before we reach an agreement.”

Under the linguistic minority colleges association, there are six medical colleges with 950 MBBS seats and five dental colleges with around 400 seats, according to Kalpaja.

Once the agreement between the government and linguistic minority colleges is reached, the latter will have to give 25% of their seats. The fees will likely be the same as that agreed by colleges under ComedK and religious minority colleges.

Meanwhile, the Karnataka Examination?Authority (KEA), said in a press release that the medical/dental seat matrix will be available shortly and that the allotment schedule will be notified for the second extended round on its website.

Speaking to Deccan?Herald earlier,?S S Harsoor, medical education director, said that ideally, MBBS and BDS seats from both the religious and linguistic colleges would be added to the seat matrix at one go to avoid confusion. The breakthrough with religious minority colleges was achieved on?Saturday.

The KEA release mentioned that the results of the second round seat allotment have been hosted on the KEA website http://kea.kar.nic.in.

Candidates have been informed that there will not be any choices in the second extended round.

Irrespective of the seat allotted in the second extended round, candidates have to compulsorily join the allotted colleges, because the seats will be allotted based on rank/merit and the priority of options entered by the candidates.

The results of the post graduate common entrance test for admission to MBA/MCA/ ME/MTech courses for 2016 has been published on the KEA website.
