Do home work before option entry, KEA official tells students

Bengaluru (DHNS): As the admission season is going on, there are numerous questions in the minds of parents and students about which course to take up, which college to enrol at and how to go about the admission procedure. Expert guidance at such a time could make this process much easier.

‘Jnana Degula’, the annual two-day education expo organised by Deccan Herald-Prajavani, offered students a platform to get to know all about courses and colleges across various streams in Karnataka. The event came to a close on Sunday with the participation of more than 75 educational institutions which had set up their stalls at the venue. Not only did students have an opportunity to talk to representatives of the colleges and get first-hand information about admission, but they also had the benefit of attending informative and inspirational lectures by experts.

On Sunday, Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) official Y R Srinath interacted with students and parents for over an hour, answering all their queries. Reiterating the importance of having all the relevant documents in place, he urged them to carry all the original copies and a set of attested ones of the same during document verification.

He also gave them tips on how best to enter the options for colleges and courses and the importance of doing that right. “Class 10, 12 marks cards (provisional marks statement attested by the college principal) and a study certificate to show that the student has studied in Karnataka for a minimum of seven years are an absolute must. For those in the State board, the study certificate has to be countersigned by the Block Education Officer (BEO) concerned. Along with this, if a student is claiming reservation under any quota, relevant certificates duly attested have to be produced at the time of document verification,” he said.

Srinath emphasised the importance of the option entry process and advised students to enter the options only in their order of priority. “Option entry is the most important process. Do you home work on the course and college of your priority. Think well before entering options,” Srinath said.
