Mangaluru, (The Hindu): V. Sunil Kumar, Karkala MLA and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader, said on Tuesday that the State government was insensitive towards cow protection and was indirectly promoting the cause of those who promoted beef-eating.

He was speaking after releasing publicity material for the Dharma Sansad to be held here from November 24 to 26, at a function organised by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), here.

Mr. Kumar said that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Revenue Minister Kagodu Thimappa and another Minister had issued statements which appeared to protect cow slaughters and promote beef-eating.

Organisations such as the DYFI were making statements which were insulting to the Hindu community, he said.

Mr. Siddaramaiah was also trying to divide the Hindu community by promoting the call for religious tag for Lingayat community. It was essential that all Hindus remained united without any distinction of caste. The Dharma Sansad should take a decision on the construction of Ram Temple in Ayodhya, Mr. Kumar said. M.B. Puranik, Sharan P., K.R. Sunil, P. Vilas Nayak, Dinesh Mendon, VHP leaders, were present.
