Bengaluru, (DHNS): Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy, who heads the coalition government, won the crucial floor test on Friday as the BJP walked out of the Karnataka Legislative Assembly without even bothering to contest JD(S)-Congress majority. Soon after Kumaraswamy moved a motion seeking the vote of confidence of the House, B S Yeddyurappa, who has been chosen by the BJP as the leader of the opposition in the Legislative Assembly, launched a tirade against the JD(S) leader. Predicting that the Congress would be betrayed by the JD(S), like the BJP had been in the past, Yeddyurappa declared that his fight was not against the Congress, but against the “corrupt” father and son (Kumaraswamy and H D Deve Gowda).

A combative Yeddyurappa warned that his party would launch state-wide protests on May 27 if Kumaraswamy failed to waive farm loans within 24 hours. He reminded Kumaraswamy that the latter had promised to waive farm loans worth Rs 53,000 crore. Shortly after that Yeddyurappa staged a walkout, followed by his party MLAs. Terming BJP’s walkout as “escapism”, Kumaraswamy attacked Yeddyurappa for making baseless accusations against him and his party. Soon after the JD(S)-Congress combine won the floor test, Kumaraswamy was congratulated by MLAs of both parties, and senior Congressmen like Mallikarjun Kharge, K H Muniyappa, R Dhruvanarayana, K C Venugopal, who were seated in the official’s gallery in the House.
