Heavy rain in different parts of state

Bengaluru. (DHNS): Moderate to heavy rain continued to lash several parts of the state on Monday. While it rained heavily in Mysuru and Mandya, there were moderate showers in Belagavi and Shivamogga.

Heavy rain accompanied by thunder and lightning, lashed Mysuru city and surrounding areas on Monday evening. The rain lasted around half an hour. Branches of trees came crashing down in several parts of the city affecting vehicular movement. Periyapatna in Mysuru district received heavy rain on Sunday night, leaving a house damaged.

Pandavapura in Mandya district received heavy downpour, accompanied by hailstones. Mandya city, Maddur, Kestur and surrounding areas received heavy rain. There were reports of moderate rain in Sakleshpur taluk of Hassan district.

Belagavi received sudden rain for around 10 minutes. Though the rain lasted for a small duration, it brought relief from sweltering heat. Shikaripur, Hosanagar and some parts of Sagar in Shivamogga district received moderate rains. Cloudy weather prevailed in many parts of the district signalling heavy rains at night.

It rained for about 30 minutes towards the evening in Hirekerur of Haveri district.

A 25-year-old man was struck dead by lightning in Devaragudihal village of Hubballi taluk on Sunday evening.
