Bengaluru, (DHNS): Confusion reigned supreme during the screening of the three documentary films especially commissioned to mark the diamond jubilee of Vidhana Soudha on Wednesday.

While incomplete versions of the documentaries prepared by noted filmmakers T N Seetharam and Girish Kasaravalli left the audience wanting for more; the third film was not even shown as it is still in the beginning stages of creation.

Also, with the legislature secretariat advancing the timings of the film screening, many visitors walked into the venue towards the end of the event.

As per the itinerary, the screening was scheduled between 3 pm and 5 pm at Banquet Hall of the Vidhana Soudha. The screening, however, began at 1.30 pm, as Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, who had wanted to give the event a skip, suddenly changed his decision and took part in the event.

The event started with the screening of Seetharam’s 45-minute documentary film, showcasing the evolution of the Karnataka legislature from the year 1891 onwards. What was originally a seven-part documentary series, was cut short to a two-part series.

Seetharam upset
Expressing discontent over the recent development, Seetharam said that he was calling it quits with the project. “I am emotionally drained. Though the team has done extensive research and shot the material for the remaining five parts, I have decided not to continue with it. I will be handing over all the material to the legislature secretariat,” he said.

Kasaravalli, was supposed to make a three-part-three-hour documentary series . He, however, ended up furnishing a two-part-two-hour series. He, too, expressed dissatisfaction over the film being cut short. “I have worked on this project for over a year. It’s unfortunate that it ended up being a two-hour film,” he added.

The third film was a virtual reality video of the Vidhana Soudha by actor-director Master Kishen. Kishen was able to present only one minute of the video, which was screened in the evening during the cultural programmes.
