Bengaluru, (DHNS): The JD(S) on Wednesday decided to strengthen the party’s grassroots by constituting booth-level committees across the state.

Speaking at a meeting attended by JD(S) legislators and district presidents here, party state president and former chief minister H D Kumaraswamy said the JD(S) had lost around 20 “winnable” seats by a narrow margin in the 2013 Assembly polls.

“We should not commit such mistakes in the 2018 polls. We have to strengthen the grassroots of the party,” he said. A state-level committee under the chairmanship of Chikkanayakanahalli MLA C B Suresh Babu has been formed to monitor the constitution of these booth-level panels.
Kumaraswamy also warned the JD(S) functionaries that those who do not work for the party ahead of the polls, will be shown the door.

“It is a do or die situation for the party. It is a question of our existence. Those who do not work for the party will lose their chance to contest the 2018 polls,” Kumaraswamy said. The JD(S) leader said he has already prepared a first list of 150 candidates. However, party national president

H D Deve Gowda is yet to approve it.
