Kabaddi tourney in Udupi on April 9

Udupi (The HIndu): The district unit of the Karnataka Dalit Vidyarthi Okkoota affiliated to the Karnataka Dalit Sangharsh Samiti (Ambedkar Vada) will organise a floodlight open kabaddi tournament at the Mahatma Gandhi District Stadium here on April 9 as part of the 125th birth anniversary celebrations of B.R. Ambedkar.

Addressing presspersons here on Tuesday, Sunder Master, convener of the state unit of the Karnataka Dalit Sangharsh Samiti, said that the intention of the tourney, ‘Ambedkar Trophy – 2016,’ was to promote harmony in society. Those getting first, second, third and fourth places would be given cash prizes and a shield. There would also be cash prizes and mementoes for best rider, best catcher and best all-rounder.

The tourney would be held in association with the Udupi District Physical Education Teachers Association and Amateur Kabbadi Association.
