Ballari: A senior manager of Karnataka Bank committed suicide by hanging himself in the bank at Meenakshi Circle here on Friday.

According to the police, A?Krishnamurthy (51) was transferred to the Meenakshi Circle branch of Karnataka Bank three years ago. He was said to be under pressure as a few persons involved in mining had failed to repay the loan he had sanctioned. Krishnamurthy hanged himself from a ceiling fan.

A death note purportedly written by him said he was ending his life owing to “pressure and depression over his failure in achieving the loan repayment target.” He has left two suicide notes, both computer printouts, and has put his seal and signature on them.

The note states that his body should be handed over to his family members without conducting post mortem.

He has also appealed that one of his daughters should be provided a job on compassionate grounds, if possible. He is said to have given the names of some defaulters in the death note.

The Brucepet police have registered a case.
