Karnataka Lokayukta Vishwanatha Shetty stabbed at his office in Bengal

Bengaluru, (DHNS): Lokayukta Justice P Vishwanath Shetty was stabbed by a man in his chamber on Wednesday afternoon.

The assailant entered the Lokayukta's chamber armed and accompanied by two women, the police said. The incident happened around 1.45 pm, close to lunch hours.

The Lokayukta's door assistant heard his screams and rushed inside to help him. The assailant tried to assault him as well, he luckily escaped unhurt.

A few Lokayukta staff rushed inside and overpowered Sharma.They shifted Vishwanath Shetty to Mallya Hospital. His condition is said to be critical.

The Lokayukta police later handed over the assailant to the jurisdictional Vidhana Soudha police. It is learnt that the accused had told the security at the entrance, that he needed to lodge a complaint and entered his name as an 'advocate' in the register.

The police have registered a case of attempt to murder and are investigating.
