Bengaluru, DHNS:Union Power Minister Piyush Goel has said the Congress government in Karnataka rejected the offer made by the Centre to supply 200 MW power to augment the shortage.
Interacting with media through a video conference on Friday, he said the state government did not respond to the offer. “We don’t even know why they rejected the offer. If any state has no capacity to buy power we cannot help.” He said every state has adequate power and some states have surplus power. But Karnantaka is an exception to this, he charged.
Energy Minister D K Shivakumar had earlier said the state had refused to buy power offered by the Centre as it was expensive. Instead, the state has decided to buy from Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC).
