NewDelhi/Bengaluru/ Mysuru, DHNS: An all-party delegation led by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Friday seeking more central aid for tackling drought in Karnataka.

Siddaramaiah is scheduled to meet Modi at 7 pm on Friday, with the prime minister finally giving him an appointment.

The chief minister had made his displeasure known about the delay in granting him an appointment to discuss the drought in the state.

Eyebrows were raised within the Karnataka government when Tamil Nadu Chief Minister O Panneerselvam immediately got an audience with the prime minister to discuss the devastation caused by Cyclone Vardah earlier this month. Earlier, it was decided that only Siddaramaiah and some of his ministerial colleagues will meet Modi. However, the BJP and JD(S) leaders also decided to join the delegation to display unity, official sources said.

Siddaramaiah told reporters that he would urge the prime minister to waive farmers’ loans.
