NEET: Toppers eye State ranking

Mangaluru (The Hindu): Students from Dakshina Kannada, who have done well in the National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test, including toppers in the B.Sc. (Agri), Indian System of Medicine, and veterinary science stream in Common Entrance Test (CET), are waiting for the State- ranking based on the NEET scores to pursue MBBS.

Ansuya Reddy, Alva’s PU College Moodbidri student, who ranked fifth in the Indian System of Medicines stream in CET, has secured All India Ranking (AIR) of 9,027 in NEET. Her ranking among students from the OBC category was 2,927. “I am waiting for the State ranking. I am hopeful of a seat in Bangalore Medical College, which is the best among government medical colleges in the State,” Ansuya says.

Bharath Kumar, also Alva’s PU College student, who ranked third in the veterinary stream of CET, has secured AIR 2,645 while the OBC category rank was 671. He is confident of getting a seat either in Bangalore Medical College or in the Karnataka Institute of Medical Sciences, Hubballi.

Soumya Shashidhar Kattimani, who ranked fifth in BSc. (Agri) stream of CET, secured AIR 5,321 while the OBC category rank was 1,554 in NEET. “I am hopeful of a seat in the Karnataka Institute of Medical Sciences, Hubballi,” she says. Kattimani is also a student of Alva’s PU College. Among other students who have done well in NEET include eight students from Expert PU College, who have scored more than 600 in the 720-mark NEET paper. Sujith S. has topped with AIR 784, followed by Rajath Jain (840), Rashmi Giridhar Bhat (1,061), Prarthana R. (1,135), B.Y. Prajwal (2,109), Megha D. (2,271), Annapoorna P. (2,284), and Tejaswini Shekar (2,461).

Pavan Gowda M.Y. has topped among students from Satyasai Pre-University College Alike, Bantwal, with AIR 3,003. Shobitha Shetty has topped among students from Navodaya Vidyalaya, Mudipu, with AIR 13,000.
