Narayan is interested in physics, Vaishvi in art

Mangaluru, (The Hindu): “What is important is to understand the subject, and not spend hours reading daily,” said Narayan Pai, of Sharada Independent Pre-University College, who secured the second rank in Engineering of the Common Entrance Test.

The results of the CET were announced on Friday.

Narayan said he focused more on preparation for the Joint Entrance Examination. “I have a passion for physics. It is important to understand concepts and principles, and connect it to our daily life,” he said.

He is the younger of the two children of Surendra Pai, Chief Manager, Regional Office, Canara Bank, and Sudha Pai, a homemaker. He studied Class 10 at the Kendriya Vidyalaya-2, Yekkur.

Vineeth Megur from Bidar, who secured the first rank in the B.VSc. stream, said he did his first year PU course at Expert Pre-University College, Valachil, Mangaluru. Because of personal reasons, he moved to his hometown and did the second year at Shaheen Pre-University College, Bidar.

The eldest of the two children of ophthalmologist couple Deepak and Bharathi Megur, Vineeth has a liking for medicine. He was waiting for results of National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test. Mr. Vineeth studied his Class 10 at the Gurunanak Public School in Bidar.

Vaishvi P.J., a student of Expert PU College, Valachil, who stood fourth in the B.VSc stream, is interested in pencil art and loves reading. Ms. Vaishvi, from Chickballapur, said it was hard for her to stay away from her parents and study in Mangaluru. “But the move has really paid off as I studied in a healthy atmosphere in our college,” she said.

Ms. Vaishvi is the youngest of the two children of businessman Jagadish P.S and homemaker Padma P.J. She did her Class 10 at Ananta Vidyaniketan in Chickballapur.

Students from the Boscoss PU College fared well in the CET. Notable among the performers include Shreya Bhat (25th rank in Agriculture) and Jitendra B.P (75th rank in Agriculture).
