Ballari, DHNS: Former DySP revealed nexus of police staff and liquor lobby in letter. KSPS officer Anupama Shenoy’s resignation issue has taken a new twist on Tuesday. According to the sources, the former DySP of Kudligi sub-division had drafted two resignation letters. One letter cited personal reasons for resignation while in other letter, Anupama had revealed about the circumstances which forced her to take the drastic decision and blamed a nexus of liquor lobby, a few police officials and District Minister P T Parameshwara Naik for her decision.
Anupama had handed over both the letters to the staff before leaving Kudligi on June 4. She, however, told the staff to send the resignation letter, citing personal reason, to Ballari SP, sources added. The government accpeted on Thursday accepted the resignation with immediate effect.
In the other resignation letter, which has gone viral in WhatsApp, she is believed to have stated, “I had taken several measures to put a curb on illicit liquor in Kudligi sub-division. But the liquor lobby is very strong in Kudligi. Even the police staff of Kudligi sub-division, including the CPI, has surrendered meekly to the liquor lobby.
The liquor lobby, at the behest of district minister and a few influential politicians, staged a protest against me. I have failed completely in preventing the protest. I am ready to face disciplinary action for it. Hurt by the events, I hereby tender my resignation.”
