Bengaluru, DHNS: The high court has refused to intervene with regard to the show cause notice issued by the state government to mayor and deputy mayor of Belagavi for observing Kannada Rajyotsava Day on November 1 as black day.
Hearing a petition filed by Rupa Narsekar and 39 other corporators from Belagavi challenging to quash the government’s notice to dissolve the Belagavi City Corporation (BCC), Justice Vineeth Kothari asked the petitioners to find a solution to the issue with the under secretary to the government who had served the notice.
The state government had served a show cause notice to mayor Sarita Patil and deputy mayor Sanjay Shinde for participating in a ‘black day’ protest organised by the Maharashtra Ekikarn Samiti on November 1. The government had asked why disciplinary action can’t be taken against them as per Section 99 (1) of the KMC Act 1976 and, dissolve the city corporation.
