PU colleges in Dakshina Kannada put up good performance

Mumbai, (The Hindu): Many pre-university colleges in Dakshina Kannada have performed well in this year’s II PU examinations, the results of which were announced on Monday.

Alva’s College in Moodbidri recorded a 98.95 % result. Of 5,825 students who appeared for the examinations, 5,764 students passed, a college release stated. In all, 28 students secured more than 98% and 403 students got more than 95%. It said that the results of 1,462 students were more than 90 %. The college said 16 students scored 100 in four subjects and 34 scored 100 in three subjects.

The number of students who scored 100 marks in Kannada stood at 23; in Hindi, 15; Sanskrit, 29; Physics, 56; Chemistry, 79; Mathematics, 216; Biology, 18; Computer Science, 41; Statistics, 61; Electronics, 30; Economics, 6; Business Administration, 29; Accountancy, 99; and Basic Mathematics, 22.

Expert PU Colleges


In all, 98.40% students of Expert Pre-University College, Kodialbail, and Expert Pre-University College, Valachil, passed with first class in Science. The two colleges offer only science courses.

Of the 1,381 students who wrote the examinations, 1,371 passed, registering a pass percentage of 99.28. Of them, 761 passed with distinction; 89 scored more than 95% marks, and 432 students scored more than 90%.

M.M. Chanchal scored 589 out of 600 and became the topper on the Kodialbail campus whereas Neha P. Mane scored 588 and became the topper in the Valachil campus.

Ms. Mane also scored 100 marks each in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Statistics.


While 10 students scored 100 marks in three subjects, 24 secured 100 in two subjects.


In all, 46 students scored 100 in Physics, 41 in Chemistry, 66 in Mathematics, 13 in Biology, 11 in Statistics, four in Computer Science, seven in Sanskrit, two in Electronics and one each in Kannada and Hindi.

St. Aloysius PU College


St. Aloysius Pre-University College, Mangaluru, secured an overall 98.51% pass result.


Of 1,749 students who appeared for the examinations, 1,723 passed.


The Science stream recorded a 98.99 % result, followed by 98.01% in Commerce and 96.08% in Arts.


Neha K.M. and Sandria Ann D’Souza scored the highest in Science with 588 respectively. Mandara P. Shetty also scored 588 in Commerce.

In Arts, Madhupreetha Nayak scored 565 marks. The college secured 414 distinctions.


Excellent PU College


A release stated that Excellent Pre-University College, Moodbidri, recorded a 99.4% pass result.

Vaibhav Bhadri S. secured 592 while Hemant Krishnamurthy Hegde scored 588 out of 600 in the Science stream. Niharika Shetty and Royden Menezes scored 585 each in Commerce.

Another release stated that Kshipraju U. of Canara Pre-University College scored 95.17% in the Science stream.

He scored 100 marks in Chemistry.
