Bengaluru, (DHNS): Inflow to some reservoirs increased, as many parts of the state received heavy showers on Monday.

Monsoon was active throughout Kodagu district, brightening hopes of water levels going up substantially in the dams of the Cauvery river basin.

Rain gathered momentum in Bhagamandala and Talacauvery, leading to an increase in inflow of water at Triveni Sangama, raising possibilities of Bhagamandala-Talacauvery being cut off from the rest of the district.

Gusty winds uprooted electricity poles in the Moornadu-Napoklu region, disrupting power supply.

The inflow of water to Harangi reservoir has increased. The water level in the reservoir stood at 2,817.25 feet against the maximum capacity of 2,859 feet. The inflow was 980 cusecs. The water level has increased by four feet in the last four days.

Plentiful rain has revived the Abbey Falls and a roaring waterfalls is a rare spectacle and an exhilarating experience for tourists.

In the last 24 hours (ending 8 am on Monday), the district received an average of 46.9 mm rainfall. This includes Madikeri taluk—73.2 mm and Somwarpet taluk—33.7 mm rain. Hobli-wise, Bhagamandala received highest of 117 mm. Farmers have started making preparations for paddy cultivation in the district.

Heavy rain lashed Dakshina Kannada district on Sunday night. The showers receded on Monday, though the sky remained overcast.

Puttur received the highest rainfall of 112.6 mm. The water level in the River Nethravathi stood at 3.5 metres against the danger level of 8.5 metre in Bantwal. The water-level in the River Kumaradhara stood at 19 metres against the danger level of 29.5 metres in Uppinangady.

Heavy rain continued to lash Mudigere taluk in Chikkamagaluru since Sunday night.

Following the good spell of rains in Thirthahalli and Sringeri region, Tunga dam at Gajanur near Shivamogga reached the maximum level of 588.24 metres. Around 15,000 cusecs of water was released to River Tunga from 18 crest gates out of 22 on Monday.

According to the dam authorities, the inflow to the dam increased, following good spell of rain in the Malnad region. The inflow on June 26 was 6,109 cusecs and the outflow was 4,777 cusecs. Thirthahalli, Hosanagar, Sagar, Shivamogga and Bhadravathi taluks received rain intermittently throughout the day.

Parts of Belagavi district received light rain. There were occasional showers in Belagavi city. Sky remained overcast in most parts of the district for the whole day. There were reports of short spells of rain in parts of Bailhongal, Ramdurg and Athani.

It rained intermittently in twin cities of Hubballi and Dharwad. The region has not received expected rainfall so far.

Heavy and intermittent rain accompanied by gusty winds lashed Kalaburagi and surrounding areas towards the evening. While Aland and Afzalpur taluks received light showers, it drizzled in Jewargi, Sedam, Chittapur and Chincholi taluks.
