Bengaluru, DHNS: The body of Rakesh Siddaramaiah, elder son of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, is scheduled to reach Mysuru at 10.30 am on Monday.

According to officials at the chief minister’s office, Siddaramaiah - along with his wife, son, daughter-in-law and other family members, will be arriving with the body from Belgium. They took the Emirates Airlines flight at 3.05 pm local time from Brussels on Sunday.

Though the flight is scheduled to reach the Kempegowda International Airport at 9.05 am, the body will not be brought out of the airport. The family members are scheduled to board a special flight to Mysuru immediately after arrival, the CMO officials said.

The body will be placed at the Karnataka Exhibition grounds in Mysuru between 11 am and 1.30 pm for public to pay their homage. The last rites will be performed at the chief minister’s T Katur farmhouse at about 3.30 pm. Rakesh passed away at Antwerp University Hospital in Belgium on Saturday, due to multiple organ failure.

Senior Congress leaders, including AICC general secretary incharge of Karnataka Digvijaya Singh, and almost all ministers will attend the last rites.

The chief minister has expressed gratitude to people, especially friends and well-wishers, for offering condolences for the loss of his elder son. “My pain is inexplicable and my loss is irreplaceable. I am unable to control my tears. But I feel, I will be failing in (my) duty, if I do not express gratitude to the people who stood by me, in this hour of grief (sic),” Siddaramaiah said in a message from Brussels.

Meanwhile, condolences continued to pour in on the death of Rakesh. DMK leader and former chief minister of Tamil Nadu M Karunanidhi expressed shock at the untimely death. “I have no word to adequately console you, your wife and the members of your family at this tragic and sad moment of grief. Please accept my condolences springing from the depth of my heart,” he stated.
