Shivamogga, dhns: Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Council K S Eshwarappa will hold talks with state BJP?president B?S?Yeddyurappa to put an end to “differences” over formation of Sangolli Rayanna brigade and appointment of office-bearers to various wings and morchas of the party.

Speaking to mediapersons here on Friday, Eshwarappa said that the district-level convention of the brigade scheduled for October 8 in Tumakuru had been postponed.

“In the meeting held in Bengaluru on October 7, BJP national general secretary directed me not to attend the Tumakuru convention in the interest of the party. As a loyal party worker, I decided to obey the instructions. The office-bearers of the brigade have postponed the convention,” he said.

Eshwarappa said that the national leaders were of the view that the difference of opinion should be sorted out through talks.

“So, I will discuss various issues with the party state president soon in the presence of other leaders. I am confident that they will be sorted out.”

Replying to a query, he said there had been no face-to-face interaction with Yeddyurappa over the brigade issue so far. The main objective of the brigade is to bring BJP back to power in the state and make B S Yeddyurappa the chief minister. Religious leaders of Uppara, Valmiki and Kuruba communities and several retired IPS officers have extended their support to the brigade.

They are not ready to identify themselves with the BJP. So, the brigade will act as a bridge between the party and such people. It would help BJP to get additional 35 to 40 seats in the next Assembly polls. “But I don’t know why B S Yeddyurappa is opposing the brigade,” he wondered.

‘No need for brigade’

BJP ST Morcha state president Rajugouda has said that Sangolli Rayanna brigade would not serve any purpose, reports DHNS from Ballari.

Speaking to reporters in Ballari on Friday, Rajugouda said that the BJP had separate cells and morchas to address the issues of Scheduled Castes, Tribes, women and minorities. “There is no need for brigade. The workers should serve under the cells/morchas of the party for the welfare of the people,” he said.
