Bengaluru, DHNS: Online system to check fictitious caste, income certificates. Citizens will now get an SMS alert from the Revenue department, the minute changes/mutations are incorporated in their land records.

The department has introduced this facility across Karnataka to check tampering of land records, which is quite rampant.

To avail this, property owners should register their mobile numbers along with the RTC details with the department.

Munish Moudgil(in pic), commissioner of the department of Survey, Settlement and Land Records and director of the Atalji Janasnehi directorate, told reporters on Saturday that property owners will be given 30 days time to file their objections with the department.

Once objections are filed, the matter will be furthered legally. The government land survey details are “locked,” thereby eliminating the scope for tampering, he said. Moudgil said the department had introduced a system to check submission of fictitious caste and income certificates by students. The online service would make it convenient for people to avail the certificates easily.

Though these services are already available online, they had to be obtained on a secured stationery affixed with a hologram, only from Atalji Janasnehi Kendras (Nada Kacheris). This stationery, printed by the Mysore Paper Mills Limited, had to be availed from the government treasury. Now these certificates can be printed on plain paper, which will be affixed with a bar code and a number.

Citizens can print these certificates online or provide the number generated on the certificate to access government services. Circulars have been sent to all departments to electronically verify certificates, as opposed to paper verification. Citizens have to make an online payment of Rs 15 to avail this service.

The aim is to go paperless. Last year alone, the department spent Rs 7 crore, printing copies, he said. Information about caste and income certificates will also be integrated with ration card details. Citizens can produce these details to obtain the other certificates.

UPOR in Bengaluru

The process of surveying private properties taken up under the Urban Property Ownership Records (UPOR) programme in Mangaluru, Mysuru and Shivamogga, will now be initiated in Bengaluru. To start with, survey will be implemented in a ward in Jayanagar.
