Bengaluru, (DHNS): State BJP president and Shivamogga MP B S Yeddyurappa said on Wednesday he planned to contest from Shikaripur, his own constituency, in the next elections.

However, he would abide by the decision of the party high command on the constituency, the former chief minister said.

Speaking to mediapersons, Yeddyurappa said, he wished to enter the fray from Shikaripur as he did not want to disappoint the people of the constituency.

He said the party’s national leaders suggested him to contest from any of the districts in north Karnataka - Bidar, Kalaburagi, Belagavi, Bagalakot and Vijayapura. But the party high command had not specified any constituency yet. Reports in the media that he would contest from Terdal constituency in Bagalkot district were far from truth, Yeddyurappa said. Replying to a query on the rift between him and BJP national joint organising secretary B L Santosh, he said there was no rift and they were good friends.

Reacting to Revenue Minister Kagodu Thimmappa’s statement that Brahmins also eat meat, the BJP leader demanded that the Congress leader apologise to people of the community immediately.
