Shivamogga: Four functionaries of the Popular Front of India (PFI), including its district unit president Shahid Khan, a businessman, were arrested for their alleged role in the violence that erupted following the rally taken out by the outfit here on February 19, M. Nanjundaswamy, Inspector-General of Police (Eastern Range) said on Friday. The other arrested are Mohammed Jilan Khan, PFI general secretary who is employed as a medical representative; Naseer Ahmed, PFI secretary who runs an automobile spare parts shop; and Syed Mohammed, member of PFI executive council and who is into real estate.
He said that prohibitory orders clamped in the city under Section 144 of CrPC had been relaxed.
