Udupi, (DHNS): Udupi-Chikkamagalur MP and BJP leader Shobha Karandlaje on Monday sought an NIA probe into the murders of Hindu activists in the state.

As many as 30 workers of the BJP, the RSS and other Hindu organisations have been murdered in the state. Incidentally, all of them have been killed in a similar manner, she told reporters here.

“How many more sacrifices does chief minister need?” she retorted. “Prohibitory orders have been clamped in Dakshina Kannada district for the past 45 days. The government should stop instigating communal clashes and all murder cases should be handed over to the NIA (National Investigation Agency) for probe,” she said.

Shobha said strict action should be taken against miscreants who threw stones during the funeral procession of RSS worker Sharath Madiwala recently. “Organisations such as Popular Front of India (PFI), Karnataka Forum for Dignity (KFD) and Social Democratic Party on India (SDPI), which are ‘creating’ communal clashes in the state should be banned,” she demanded.

“Are people of Dakshina Kannada eunuchs to remain mute to the happenings in the district? Is it wrong to stage protest peacefully in demand for justice? We are quiet despite prohibitory orders having been clamped for the past 45 days,” she remarked. The BJP leader said the party resorted to protests only after the government failed to ensure law and order in the region.

‘No soft corner’
Urban Development and Haj Minister R Roshan Baig on Monday said the state government doesn’t have any soft corner for organisations such as PFI, KDF and SPDI.

Speaking to reporters here, Baig said the government would take strict action against organisations creating communal tension and law and order problem. “Legal action will be taken against such organisations.”

He said the BJP was politicising the murder of Sharath Madiwala at BC Road in Dakshina Kannada district for political gains as the Assembly elections were approaching. “It is not right to politicise the issue. Even we are pained by Sharat’s death.” He refused to comment on Shobha’s eunuch remark.
