Davangere DHNS: Union Minister of State for Major Industries and Public Enterprises G M Siddeshwar, who represents Davangere parliamentary constituency, said that he would resign from his post within a week .
However, the announcement led to a lot of speculations in political circles in the Centre and the state as Siddeshwar’s name figured in the list of probables to be dropped from the Union Cabinet led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who expanded his Cabinet on Tuesday.
At a press conference here, he said neither Prime Minister Narendra Modi, nor BJP?chief Amit Shah asked him to resign. The decision was voluntary. A decision to this effect will be taken after consulting his supporters, party activists, party high command and leaders of the state within a week. Stating reasons for his decision to resign, he said that he was not able to concentrate on the organisational matters of the party in the state.
