Mangaluru (The Hindu): Six members of a fishing boat, Sea Pearl, were saved by the crew of another fishing boat, Al Rameez, after the former was hit by the latter near Malpe coast on Tuesday.

The six Sea Pearl members left Mangaluru fishing harbour on February 10. They reached Malpe around 6 a.m. where they spread out their net to catch fish. The spot was 20 nautical miles off the coast.

Mohammed Ghouse, a member of Sea Pearl, told reporters that their boat was hit by Al Rameez. Following the accident, the boat suffered damage and water started gushing into it. As the boat started sinking, Ghouse and other crew members raised an alarm. Then, the crew members of Al Rameez responded immediately and pulled out all the Sea Pearl crew members.

Apart from Ghouse, Ansar, Hussain, Umar, Majeeb and Budhivanta were rescued. Ghouse said that they tried for an hour to pull the damaged boat to shore using a rope. But they could not succeed.
