Bengaluru, (DHNS): The Congress high command is learnt to have advised its senior leaders to refrain from publicly discussing their sons and daughters getting tickets as that may cause embarrassment to the party ahead of the Assembly polls.

In fact, the party's state election committee deferred discussing the matter till March 26 - after the Rajya Sabha polls scheduled on March 23.

Accordingly, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah flatly denied his son Dr Yathindra seeking the ticket to contest from Varuna constituency in Mysuru district that he (Siddaramaiah) currently represents. Other leaders, too, seem to have entered the denial mode.

Science and Technology Minister M R Seetharam, who was said to have been vying for the ticket for the Malleswaram constituency, denied having sought the ticket for himself or his elder son Raksha Ram.

"Me and my son are not ticket aspirants. I will campaign for the party and seek the support of my Balija community. In fact, I've asked my son not to apply for the ticket," Seetharam told reporters.

The party, according to sources, wants to tread cautiously because some seniors want to vacate their own seats to launch their children. For instance, Siddaramaiah himself plans to move to Chamundeshwari so that his son can contest from Varuna. Public Works Ministers
H C Mahadevappa is considering moving to C V Raman Nagar in Bengaluru so that his son Sunil Bose can get the ticket from T Narasipura. Curiously, Urban Development Minister R Roshan Baig has applied to recontest his Shivajinagar seat, for which his son Ruman has also applied, sources said.

Home Minister Ramalinga Reddy is said to be keen on getting his daughter Sowmya Reddy the ticket for the Jayanagar constituency, where former Union Minister K Rahman Khan wants his son Mansoor Ali Khan to contest. Given the hectic lobbying, it is learnt that party leaders have been briefed that issuance of ticket to their children should be left to the high command.
