Bengaluru, (DHNS): The government will initiate action against those who disrupt Tipu Jayanti celebrations, Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister G Parameshwara said on Sunday.
Speaking to reporters here, Parameshwara said the government would go ahead with Tipu Jayanti on November 10 across the state despite opposition from the BJP.
Parameshwara said he had convened a meeting of top police officers in Bengaluru on Monday to discuss security arrangements for the celebrations. “Tipu Sultan fought against the British and the government will celebrate his Jayanti befittingly,” he said.
The government would not allow anybody to take law into their hands, he said and blamed the BJP for trying to incite communal passions for electoral gains. He said KSRP would be deployed across the state.
In Chitradurga, the deputy chief minister said superintendents of police of the respective districts will decide on giving permission to take out processions as part of the celebrations, scheduled on November 10
