Bengaluru, DHNS: A JD(S) leader on Monday urged the Supreme Court to transfer a petition challenging the fresh order of Karnataka Governor Vajubhai Vala declining permission to initiate criminal proceedings against former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa in the land scam cases, from the Karnataka High Court to the apex court.
Senior advocate Raju Ramachandran, appearing for petitioner Sirajin Basha, submitted that his petition challenging the November 2015 High Court order, which quashed the sanction by the previous governor for the prosecution of the BJP leader, was closely linked to the fresh petition filed on February 19 assailing the order by Governor Vala.
He said the subsequent order by the present governor declining sanction for prosecution of Yeddyurappa as well as the petition against the High Court order quashing the permission for prosecution by the previous governor Hans Raj Bhardwaj, must be heard together.
A bench of Justices J Chelameswar and Abhay Manohar Sapre adjourned the hearing for four weeks for allowing the petitioner to file a transfer petition.
