Siddapura: A wild elephant was found killed on Monday August 29 at Injalagere. It is said that the elephant had gunshot wounds on its forehead which were confirmed by the forest department doctor, Uma Shankar.
The elephant was a daily menace to the coffee plantations and paddy fields at night which might have enraged the villagers. The elephant is around thirty years of age. Virajpet DCF Shankar, RFO Gopal visited the spot.
The elephant was cremated after the autopsy. Police have begun the search for the killers.
