Bengaluru, DHNS: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Tuesday said efforts will be made to perform bhoomi pooja for the Vishnuvardhan memorial near Mysuru on September 18, the birth anniversary of the late actor.

Siddaramaiah told reporters in Bengaluru that a six-acre plot on H D?Kote Road, around 5 km from Mysuru, has been chosen for the memorial as suggested by Vishnuvardhan’s wife Bharathi. Earlier, the government had proposed the memorial at Abhiman Studio in Bengaluru. However, the project hit a roadblock following a land dispute.

On Tuesday, Bharathi Vishnuvardhan told Siddaramaiah that it would be appropriate to hold the bhoomi pooja for the memorial on September 18 to coincide with the birth anniversary of the actor.

Siddaramaiah called up Public Works Minister H?C?Mahadevappa, who is also the district-in-charge minister of Mysuru, and directed him to talk to revenue department officials and the district deputy commissioner for speedy transfer of land for the memorial.
