Mumbai: Sandip Soparrkar, one of the Indian leading choreographers globally most popular, was invited as a guest speaker on Padma shree awardee Barkha Dutt's show "We the People". Sandip was India's first single man to adopt a child almost 9 years back and today is married to super model Jesse Randhawa for almost 6 years. He is also the Cause Ambassador for Catalyst for Social Action (CSA), an organisation that facilitates adoptions and child care institutions in states like Maharashtra, Odisha, Goa and Madhya Pradesh. The topic of discussion was brought about keeping in mind the new law introduced which says 'Opening surrogacy to only infertile, married and Indian couples'. This means banning surrogacy for foreign nationals, unmarried couples, LGBT community and any other who want to have a child through surrogacy.

At the show Sandip spoke about how couples and single people when frustrated with the long wait for adoption opt for surrogacy. He requested the adoption authorities to ease out the adoption procedures and let surrogacy be a personal choice. Banning surrogacy would lead to wrong ways of dealing with the issue said Mr. Soparrkar on the show which was telecasted on 1st Nov on NDTV 24x7.

When contacted Sandip Soparrkar said 'I was truly honored to be a part of Bharka Dutt's show, she is indeed one dynamic women, I have expressed my point of view at the show and I sincerely hope that surrogacy or even adoption should not be banned or enforced on anyone and it should be a choice that should be given to an individual or a couple, let us regulate and make procedures simpler rather than putting any ban.'

Apart from his choreography career, Sandip has been involved in several charities in India and abroad. Before getting involved with CSA, Sandip was Brand Ambassador of USA based Child care Institution 'Miracle Foundation' and prior to that he was involved with Prince Charles charity 'Youth Business Initiative' under Princes Trust NGO in Nigeria. while talking to Barkha Dutt on her show, Sandip kept his speech enthralling and enlightening! No wonder that Government of India recently bestowed him with the 22nd National Achievement Award for all the work in the field of art and its connections to social work.
