Dr Pereira Presents Awareness of the Indian Constitution for Christian Professionals

Published On : 15 Jul 2018   |  Reported By : C V Joseph

Bengaluru: Dr Savio Pereira presented a topic on political awareness for professionals for a better understanding of the Constitution and Christianity here on Saturday, July 14. Dr Pereira Associate Medical Superintendent at St. John’s Medical College Hospital, Bangalore, linked both Constitution and religion in his elaborate talk in which eminent professionals and personalities attended.

Dr Pereira asked who is a Hindu and he said it is not defined in the Constitution. Elaborating on the question he further said, "When we think of the Hindu religion, we find it difficult, if not impossible, to define Hindu religion or even adequately describe it. Unlike other religions in the world, the Hindu religion does not claim any one prophet, it does not worship any one god, it does not subscribe to any one dogma, it does not believe in any one philosophic concept, it does not follow any one set of religious rites or performances, in fact, it does not appear to satisfy the narrow traditional features of any religion or creed. It may broadly be described as a way of life and nothing more."

To the questions, which are the Groups that were considered non-Hindus till 1930s, he informed, they were Muslims, Christians, Parsis, Sikhs, Jains and Buddhists. The outcastes (non-Hindus) till 1930s – now called Scheduled Castes included Scheduled Tribes, Aborigines, Animists and Indigenous persons. Regarding an Untouchable, Article 17 itself provides for the abolition of untouchability “in any form“, thus lending textual credence to the broader interpretation. K.M. Munshi argued that in the draft Constitution, the word “untouchability” had been placed within quotation marks – thus making it clear that the ideas was to “deal with it in the sense in which it is normally understood” (i.e., the narrow, specific sense).

Quoting K T Shah, Dr Pereira said, “In the first place I would like to point out that the term `untouchability' is nowhere defined. This Constitution lacks very much in a definition clause; and consequently we are at a great loss in understanding what is meant by a given clause and how it is going to be given effect to. You follow up the general proposition about abolishing untouchability, by saying that it will be in any form an offence and will be punished at law.”

“ARTICLE 17 has laid as “Untouchability” in any form is abolished and the imposition of any disability on that account shall be an offence.” And the explanation added in debate was that “any one who suffers a disability on this account should have the right to go to a court of law and have redress.” In the Constituent Assembly debate, there was an extensive debate on the ambiguity on definition of Untouchability and the “practice and abolition” of Untouchability.

With regard to the Origin of Scheduled Castes, he said till 1930s, they were considered NON-HINDUS. He also spoke about Aryan invaders Vs Original Dravidian and freedom of religion?

To the query, who started the Indian National Congress, he said it was Theosophical Society. On the Origin of The Indian National Congress and Theosophists, he said the Indian National Congress was founded on December 28, 1885 in Bombay (Mumbai) by members of the Theosophical Society. Allan Octavian Hume met Madame Blavatsky and Olcott immediately after they arrived in India in 1879 and thereafter converted to Theosophism. The Theosophical Society Convention in Madras (Chennai) in 1884 included Colonel H S Olcott and Allan O Hume who planned the Indian National Congress Convention in Bombay from December 28-30, 1885. Allan O Hume came as a delegate to the convention under the Adyar banyan tree in 1884 and met the ‘Mylapore 17’ who had resolved that “a national movement for political ends” should be created. Hume made a clarion call of that. And the Indian National Union of the ‘Mylapore 17’ sowed the seeds for what became the Indian National Congress a year later. Hume served as its General Secretary till he left for England in 1894.

Explaining the Theosophical Society, he said The Theosophical Society is a Satanic Cult which was opposed to Judeo-Christian beliefs and believed in the Supremacy of Lucifer. The Theosophical Society promoted Aryan Supremacy which was later taken up by Adolf Hitler from the branch in Germany called Ariosophy. The Ideological members of the Theosophical Society were Madame Blatavsky, Annie Besant and Allan O Hume. Theosophical Society is a New Age, Occult, Satanic Cult organization formed in 1875 to advance the new age religion of theosophism. The Theosophical Society was started in New York in the United States of America, in November 1875 by Helena Petrovna Blavatsky, Henry Steel Olcott, and others. The Current Headquarters is in Adyar Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India.

Satan is the God Theosophists believe. According to Blavatsky’s esoteric theology, "Lucifer is divine and terrestrial light, the ‘Holy Ghost’ and ‘Satan,’ at one and the same time.” Blatavsky’s Secret Doctrine further states, "And now it stands proven that Satan, or the Red Fiery Dragon, the 'Lord of Phosphorus,' and Lucifer, or 'Light-Bearer,' is in us: it is our Mind – our tempter and Redeemer, our intelligent liberator and Saviour from pure animalism." (Volume 2, p. 513). Blatavsky further affirms, "Lucifer represents.. Life, Thought, Progress, Civilization, Liberty, Independence. Lucifer is the Logos, the Serpent and the Saviour." pages 171, 225, 255 (Volume II).

"It is Satan who is the God of our planet and the only God." pages 215, 216, 220, 245, 255, 533, (VI) Who is MAHATMA according to Theosophists? Blavatsky showcased the Theosophical Society as being part of repeated attempts throughout the millennia by a hidden Hierarchy to guide humanity – in concert with the overall Intelligent Cosmic Evolutionary scheme – towards its ultimate, immutable evolutionary objective: the attainment of perfection and the conscious, willing participation in the evolutionary process. These attempts allegedly require an earthly infrastructure (such as the Theosophical Society) which she submitted was further ultimately under the inspiration of a number of Eternal Living Masters known as Mahatmas, who are immortal members of the Hierarchy.

Who first named M K Gandhi Mahatma? Annie Besant. Who started Arya Samaj? Dayanand Saraswathi along with Madame Blatavsky of Theosophical Society. Dr Pereira who is also a legal expert said Shuddhi Performance – Reconversion by purification ceremony is counterfeit of Christian Baptism, started by Arya Samaj. It is interesting to know who are the famous Indians who converted to Theosophism. They are Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, Motilal Nehru and Jawaharlal Nehru. Motilal Nehru voluntarily converted to Theosophism by Madame Blatavsky herself when she came to India.

M K Gandhi and Theosophism: Mohandas K Gandhi said, “Theosophy is the teaching of Madame Blavatsky. It is Hinduism at its best. Theosophy is the Brotherhood of Man. … Jinnah and other Moslem leaders were once members of the Congress. They left it because they felt the pinch of Hinduism patronizing. … They did not find the Brotherhood of Man among the Hindus. They say Islam is the Brotherhood of Man. As a matter of fact, it is the Brotherhood of Moslems. Theosophy is the Brotherhood of Man.” James D Hunt writes, “It was through theosophy that Gandhi was induced to study his own heritage. This effect was generated in many Indians.”

Gandhi began to read Theosophical literature and related works, such as The Light of Asia by Edwin Arnold and Blavatsky's The Key to Theosophy. “I recall having read Madame Blavatsky’s Key to Theosophy. This book stimulated in me the desire to read books on Hinduism and disabused me of the notion fostered by the missionaries that Hinduism was rife with superstition.”

When Gandhi sailed to South Africa for the second time, he again found comfort within the Theosophical influence, “During my first sojourn in South Africa it was Christian influence that had kept alive in me the religious sense. Now it was theosophical influence that added strength to it. Mr. Ritch was a theosophist and put me in touch with the society at Johannesburg. ..but I came in close contact with almost every theosophist. I had religious discussions with them every day……………. Gandhi and his wife visited the Theosophical Society headquarters in Adyar in 1915.

“I regard Jesus as a great teacher of humanity, but I do not regard him as the only begotten son of God. That epithet in its material interpretation is quite unacceptable. Metaphorically we are all sons of God, but for each of us there may be different sons of God in a special sense. Thus for me Chaitanya may be the only begotten son of God … God cannot be the exclusive Father and I cannot ascribe exclusive divinity to Jesus.”

M K Gandhi and Christ: It was more than I could believe that Jesus was the only incarnate son of God, and that only he who believed in Him, would have everlasting life. If God could have sons, all of us were His sons. If Jesus was like God, or God Himself, then all men were like God and could be God Himself. My reason was not ready to believe literally that Jesus by his death and by his blood redeemed the sins of the world. Metaphorically there might be some truth in it. Again, according to Christianity only human beings had souls, and not other living beings, for whom death meant complete extinction; while I held a contrary belief. I could accept Jesus as a martyr, an embodiment of sacrifice, and a divine teacher, but not as the most perfect man ever born. His death on the Cross was a great example to the world, but that there was anything like a mysterious or miraculous virtue in it my heart could not accept. [His Own Story. Page 141.] M K Gandhi rejected the Christ of Christians but propounded the Christ of Theosophists. “Gandhi’s beliefs represent a complete reinterpretation of the New Testament message and a redefinition of Christianity, and they mirror Gandhi’s own bias……….Sadly, the central message of the Bible, the Gospel is lost on Gandhi. He proposes the oldest counterfeit of all, self-salvation. Self salvation results from two misconceptions: an underestimation of God’s absolute holiness and an overestimation of mankind’s goodness”.

Conversion and Right to Propagate: Frank Anthony rose to move an amendment to Shri Munshi’s amendment. He said he wanted to add the words except when the parents or surviving parents have been converted and the child does not choose to adhere to its original faith. In support of his suggestion, he said, “I agree that conversion under undue influence, conversion by coercion or conversion by fraud should not be recognised by law. I am only interested in this question, Sir, on principle. My community does not propagate. We do not convert, nor are we converted. But I do appreciate how deeply, how passionately millions of Christians feel on this right to propagate their religion. I want to congratulate the major party for having, in spite of its contentious character, retained the words “right to practise and propagate their religion”

Dr Savio Pereira pointed out the dangers of Preaching “Another Christ”. 2 Corinthians 11:4 For if someone comes to you and preaches a Jesus other than the Jesus we preached, or if you receive a different spirit from the Spirit you received, or a different gospel from the one you accepted, you put up with it easily enough. Galatians 1:8 But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let them be under God's curse! Romans 16:17- Now I urge you, brothers, to watch out for those who cause divisions and obstacles that are contrary to the teaching you have learned. Turn away from them. 2 John 7-11 7 The person who teaches or preaches about a Jesus, other than the one who is revealed to us in the Bible is a deceiver and an antichrist.

Nicodemus and Crypto-Christians: John 3:1 Now there was a Pharisee named Nicodemus, a leader of the Jews. He came to Jesus[a] by night and said to him, “Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher who has come from God; for no one can do these signs that you do apart from the presence of God.”

John 7:50-51 50 Nicodemus, who had gone to Jesus[a] before, and who was one of them, asked, “Our law does not judge people without first giving them a hearing to find out what they are doing, does it?”

John 19:39-42 39 Nicodemus, who had at first come to Jesus by night, also came, bringing a mixture of myrrh and aloes, weighing about a hundred pounds. They took the body of Jesus and wrapped it with the spices in linen cloths, according to the burial custom of the Jews. Now there was a garden in the place where he was crucified, and in the garden there was a new tomb in which no one had ever been laid. And so, because it was the Jewish day of Preparation, and the tomb was nearby, they laid Jesus there.

Dr Pereira took time to prove the leadership and various other aspects and uniqueness of Jesus. On Secret Disciples of Christ: John 19:38–39, After this, Joseph of Arimathea, being a disciple of Jesus, but secretly, for fear of the Jews, asked Pilate that he might take away the body of Jesus; and Pilate gave him permission. So he came and took the body of Jesus. And Nicodemus, who at first came to Jesus by night, also came, bringing a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about a hundred pounds.

On Constitution: "Constitution means a document having a special legal sanctity which sets out the framework and the principal functions of the organs of the Government of a State and declares the principles governing the operation of those organs.

Important Aspects of Constitution: PART I Article 1-4 The Union and its Territory; PART II Citizenship Articles 5-11 Citizenship; PART III Fundamental Rights Articles 12-35; IV Directive Principle of State Policy Articles 36-51; IVA Fundamental duties Article 51A. Dr Pereira also handled all the Articles step by step and their implications. He also touched upon Caste and Community of Legitimate Child inherited from Father and Caste and Community of Illegitimate Child inherited from Mother.

He dwelt with Fraudulent Baptism –with vested interest, Article 44: Uniform Civil Code for the citizens throughout the territory of India. GOA is only state which has Uniform Civil Code for all religions. Christianity is also secular in terms of Marriage laws.

Jesus Christ and the Law; St. Paul and the Law and The Constitution of India and Christians. Matthew 5:17, "Do not think that I came to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I did not come to abolish but to fulfil”. Matthew 5:18-19 "For truly I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest letter or stroke shall pass from the Law until all is accomplished. "Whoever then annuls one of the least of these commandments, and teaches others to do the same, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever keeps and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

Jesus’ parents followed their Jewish social Laws. LUKE 2:21 At the end of eight days, when he was circumcised, he was named Jesus, the name given by the angel before he was conceived in the womb. Jesus’ Presentation at the Temple. LUKE 2: 22 Now when the time came for their purification according to the law of Moses, Joseph and Mary brought Jesus up to Jerusalem to present him to the Lord pigeons……… Jesus in the Temple: Luke 2:41- Now Jesus’ parents went to Jerusalem every year for the feast of the Passover. 42 When he was twelve years old, they went up according to custom.

Jesus Heals a Man With Leprosy: (Mark 1:40-45) The Temple Tax and Paying the Imperial Tax to Caesar. (Mathew 22:15) Jesus Condemns Bad Laws; He answered, “Have you never read what David did when he and his companions were hungry and in need? 26 In the days of Abiathar the high priest, he entered the house of God and ate the consecrated bread, which is lawful only for priests to eat. And he also gave some to his companions.”

27 Then he said to them, “The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath. 28 So the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath.” Jesus Improves upon the Law. Jesus Christ teaches that love is the supreme law.
