Functional Vocational Training and Research Society (FVTRS), a Bangalore based national NGO is all set to launch a campaign on the eve of Gandhi Jayanti to make 300 panchayats in 15 districts of Karnataka State to achieve 100% matriculation in all the panchayats.

On the same day FVTRS will launch a new programme namely Skill Net Karnataka which will bring together unorganised skilled workers as collectives for their development and raise their living standards.

The campaign eventually focuses on 300 Panchayats/wards in fifteen districts in the State of Karnataka.

Minster for Labour and Employment for Karnataka State, Shri. Parameshwar Naik will inaugurate the Skill Net programme at a function scheduled to be held at Sri Nandagokula Kalayana Mantapa, Thanisandra Main Road, Hegde Nagar, Bangalore at 11. AM on 1st October 2015.

Noted cine artiste, Ms. Malavika Avinash will inaugurate the campaign for enrolling drop out youth with open schooling.

The function will be presided over by Dr. Ghandhi Doss, former Head of Department of Social Work, Bangalore University and currently Vice-President of FVTRS.

Shri. B A Basavaraja, MLA, KR Puram, Former Minister Dr. J. Alexander (IAS), Mr. Chandrasekhar, Regional Director NIOS and Mr. P.M Philip, Executive Director of FVTRS will also be present at the function.

This programme will be attended by over 1500 skilled workers, Vocational Training Providers with their associates from across the state.

Functional Vocational Training and Research Society (FVTRS) is a national-level non-governmental organization mandated to make school dropout youth employable through skill training. FVTRS has its headquarters at Hedge Nagar, Bangalore. For last 23 years, FVTRS has been serving the country with skill development of school drop out youth and has successfully trained over 118000 youth. In Karnataka alone FVTRS has trained over 13000 youths.

During the last financial year FVTRS trained a total of 6430 youth. Out of them 65% are women and 50% are SC/ST. Among the trained youth 70% are already employed.

At present a total of 7291 (Male: 2801 and female: 4490) are undergoing training on various trades using the above projects across the country. Life Skill training and entrepreneurial development programme is also part of the skill training of FVTRS.

Nearly 6000 students/youth who dropped out of the school system have already have enrolled themselves with NIOS to complete their matriculation.
