6 State players in India 'A' teams

Bengaluru, DHNS: As many as six Karnataka players have been picked in the India ‘A’ squads that will take on Bangladesh ‘A’ in three one-dayers and a three-day match to be played in Bengaluru and Mysuru.

While middle-order batsman Karun Nair has been inluded in both the one-day and three-day match squads, opener Mayank Agarwal and Manish Pandey have made the cut in the limited-overs team to be led by Unmukt Chand. All-rounder Shreyas Gopal and paceman Abhimanyu Mithun have been named in the three-day match squad which will be led by Shikhar Dhawan.

Left-handed opener Dhawan, who suffered a hand injury during the first Test against Sri Lanka and missed the remainder of the series, will make his comeback to competitive cricket ahead of the South African series beginning in October.

Suresh Raina, who recently practised with the Dutch cricket team in the Netherlands, has been included in the one-day squad.

Raina has not played any competitive cricket since Bangladesh ODI series in June.

T20 squad vs SA

The Indian squad for the T20 series against the visiting South African cricketers is expected to be picked during the India A-Bangladesh A one-day series here.

“The tentative date of selection of the T20 squad is September 18 in Bengaluru,” a source in the Cricket Board said.

One-day squad: Unmukt Chand (capt), Mayank Agarwal, Manish Pandey, Suresh Raina, Kedar Jadhav, Sanju Samson, Karun Nair, Kuldeep Yadav, Jayant Yadav, Karn Sharma, Rishi Dhawan, S Arvind, Dhawal Kulkarni, Rush Kalaria, Gurkeerat Singh Mann.

Squad for three-day match: Shikhar Dhawan (capt), Abhinav Mukund, Ka­r­u­n Nair, Shreyas Iyer, Baba Aparajith, Naman Ojha, Jayant Yadav, Vijay Sha­nkar, Ravindra Jadeja, Shreyas Gopal, Abhimanyu Mithun, Varun Aaron, Ishwar Pandey, Sheldon Jackson.

The schedule (Matches in Bengaluru unless specified): Sept 16: 1st one-day match vs India A; Sept 18: 2nd one-day match vs India A; Sept 20: 3rd one-day match vs India A; Sept 22-24: Three-day match vs Karnataka in Mysuru; Sept 27-29: Three-day match vs India ‘A’.
