Golfers Lahiri, Rashid tied 21st in European Masters

Crans Montana (Switzerland), July 24: Indian golfers Anirban Lahiri and Rashid Khan carded identical three-under 67s to share the 21st position after the first round of the 2.7 million euros European Masters at the Crans-sur-Sierre Golf Club here.

Current Asian Tour Order of Merit leader Lahiri got five birdies on the fourth, sixth, ninth, 10th and 14th holes against two bogeys on the first and 13th to share the spot with 17 others on Thursday, while Frenchman Gregory Havret fired seven-under 63 to hold a one shot lead against second placed Lasse Jensen of Denmark.

Other Indians in the fray, Shiv Kapur, Jyoti Randhawa and Rahil Gangjee scored identical two-under 68s to be tied at the 39th spot after the opening round at the only event on European soil to be jointly sanctioned by the Asian Tour and European Tour since 2009.

Veteran golfer S.S.P. Chawrasia was tied 70th following a level-par 70. Jeev Milkha Singh was tied 112nd with a two-over 72.

Gaganjeet Bhullar was joint 123rd after carding a 73, while Digvijay Singh took the tied 149th position as he scored 76.
