Left-arm spinner Ashton Agar pleased to remove 'favourite' Kohli

Published On : 29 Jul 2015

Chennai, Jul 29 (PTI) Left-arm spinner Ashton Agar said it was pleasing to take the prized wicket of Virat Kohli on day one of the second unofficial cricket "Test" between India A and Australia here today.

Agar ended with figures of two for 23 as the Australia dismissed the hosts for 135 in 68.5 overs.

"It was satisfying to take the wicket of Virat. He is one of my favourite players to watch him bat. It was a great opportunity to bowl to him and it was even a greater opportunity to get his wicket. I am very pleased with that," said Agar.

On the pitch, Agar commented: "I think it was on the slower side. There was little more bounce than the pitch that we played on in the first Test. This pitch was harder on the top when we commenced the game today and there was more carry on the wicket. We learnt from the last game that we should keep it tough and arrest the rivals from moving the score board.

Pacer Gurinder Sandhu was the pick of the bowlers, taking three wickets for 25 runs in 15.5 overs.

"It was nice to finish of well. After lunch they were scoring much better than the first session. We were not getting many wickets and we decided to keep the score board still and pick up few wickets that time. That was the time to roll on and got through the rest of the batters," said Sandhu.

Australia were 43 for no loss in reply, trailing by 92 runs.

"The intent was there in our batsmen to make use of the bounce from the pitch which we are used to back in Australia.

Our batters were trying to move the game forward. I do not know what was running in their mind. But, we had a plan and it paid off today," added Aga
