Hockenheim (Germany), July 21 (IANS/EFE) Mercedes driver Nico Rosberg extended his lead in the Formula One drivers' standings with his first win on home soil while both Force India drivers scored points at the German Grand Prix here Sunday.
Nico Hulkenberg, like Fernando Alonso, kept up his record for finishing every 2014 race in the points, and took seventh for Force India, reports Efe.
The final point went to the second Force India of Sergio Perez, after clashes with Daniil Kvyat’s Toro Rosso and Adrian Sutil’s Sauber.
Rosberg, who started in pole position, led from start to finish, covering the 67 laps at the 4,574-metre circuit in 1:33:42.914.
The Mercedes driver's average speed was 195.2 kph (121.29 mph).
The 29-year-old finished ahead of Finnish Williams driver Valtteri Bottas, who also came in second two weeks ago at Silverstone, and teammate Lewis Hamilton.
Ferrari's Spanish driver Fernando Alonso came in behind German Red Bull driver Sebastian Vettel and ahead of Australian Red Bull team member Daniel Ricciardo.
Rosberg, who won his fourth race of the season and seventh career title, now has 190 points in the standings, while Hamilton is second with 176 points.
Ricciardo is in third place with 84 points.
