Auto driver dies in mysterious condition

Udupi: Dinesh Sanil Manampady (45), an auto rickshaw driver operating at Mulky died under suspicious circumstances at Padubidri Dinesh used to call Zeenath, a young lady from Padubidri, often on cellphone and harass here. It is said that to teach him a fitting lesson, she invited him to Padubidri and attacked him on his arrival there.

The attack happened at around 10.30 amnear the bus shelter meant for buses bound for Udupi. Zeenath, a resident of Deen Street, Padubidri, and her father Ibrahim reportedly assaulted Dinesh. Thereafter, Dinesh, Zeenath and Ibrahim together were going towards Padubidri police station in an auto rickshaw to file police complaint, when Dinesh complained of vertigo and chest pain. An auto rickshaw driver from Padubidri immediately took him to a private hospital, but he died before medical help could be accorded to him.

Members of Mulky Manampady Auto Rickshaw Union who gathered in front of the police station at Padubidri, urged the police to register murder case. They held protest in front of the station, alleging that Dinesh was murdered.
