Udupi: Mother of underworld fugitive, Bannanje Raja, who is currently lodged in Belagavi prison, lost her life. Vilasini Shettigar (78), slipped at her home on Saturday and breathed her last.
Vilasini, a retired teacher, was living in a house near the government college at Malpe. When working at home, she accidentally slipped and fell down. This fall proved fatal, as her head banged against the floor and she suffered critical injuries to her head. She was immediately taken to KMC Hospital, Manipal. The doctors there, who examined her, confirmed that Vilasini was no more.
Bannaje Raja had visited his mother sometime back after obtaining permission from the high court, to meet her and enquire about her well-being. Vilasini is survived by husband and children.
