Business transactions of Rs 56,300 cr for banks in DK

Mangaluru: According to information released by Lead Bank Manager Raghava Yajamanya at the district consultative committee (DCC) meeting held at Zilla Panchayat Auditorium in Mangaluru on Oct 14, Friday, total business of banks in the district has reached Rs 56,300 crore for the quarter ended on June 30.

He said the deposits stand at Rs 36,106.35 crore indicating a growth of 10.15% and the advances stand at Rs 20,339.22 crore showing a growth of 11.11%. The credit deposit (CD)?ratio is 56.33% and there is a need to improve the ratio to 60%.

The deposits with other private banks is Rs 3,338 crore, advances worth 3,321.46 crore and 99.50 CD ratio, deposits with cooperative banks is Rs 2,188.94 crore, advances Rs 1,961.86 crore and CD ratio 89.63%.

A total of 44 applications submitted by SC and ST aspirants in the district, under Dr B R Ambedkar Development Corporation schemes during 2015-16, as on June 28, 2016, have been pending with various bank branches.

The annual target is 167 and 148 have been processed out of 214 sent applications and 22 applications have been rejected.

As many as 29 applications submitted by people belonging to SC, under SEP scheme, have been pending at bank branches. Also, eight applications by aspirants belonging to ST, under the same scheme, have been pending. The other pending applications are by two SC applicants and one ST applicant towards dairy farming under the SEP scheme. Three applications and one application submitted by aspirants belonging to SC and ST respectively, under ISB scheme, too, have been pending with the branches.

When it comes to ISB scheme, as against the annual target of 17, out of 24 applications sent by aspirants belonging to SC, 18 applications have been processed, three have been rejected and three are pending. Twelve applications are submitted by aspirants belonging to ST as against the annual target of 12, out of which 10 have been processed, one has been rejected and one is pending.

The annual target for SEP scheme for 2015-16 is 63 and 44 for SC and ST respectively. Out of 99 applications sent by aspirants belonging to SC, eight have been rejected and out of 29 applications submitted by aspirants belonging to ST, seven have been rejected.

As many as 83 out of 393 applications are pending under Udyogini scheme.

Loan transactions : In the district, under National Urban Livelihood Mission (NULM), 260 out of 459 applications submitted by individuals by banks have been sanctioned as against the target of 253. Also, out of 13 applications submitted by groups, six have been sanctioned.

Banks in the district have disbursed 7,144 loans amounting Rs 105.47 crore under Mudra scheme during the first quarter and the total outstanding since beginning is 39,479 accounts amounting Rs 565.35 crore.

As many as 3,39,036 bank accounts have been opened under Prime Minister’s Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY). Among them, 67,315 are zero balance accounts, 2,58,716 Rupay cards have been issued, out of which 1,90,606 are active.

A total of 1,21,450 PMJJBY (Prime Minister’s Jeevan Jyothi Bima Yojana) accounts have ben opened and 116 insurance claims amounting Rs 274 lakh have been paid and 31 claims worth Rs 62 lakh are pending.

As many as 3,40,693 PMSBY (Prime Minister’s Suraksha Bima Yojana) accounts have been opened with an amount of Rs 16.95 lakh. 52 insurance claims worth Rs 68.30 lakh have been paid and 21 claims worth Rs 34 lakh is pending.

About 11701 accounts have been opened under Atal Pension Yajana and Rs 185 lakh has been disbursed.

The banks in the district have credit linked 6,188 self-help groups during the first quarter 2016-17 and banks have disbursed an amount of Rs 84.14 crore to self-help groups till the June 30, 2016.

Zilla Panchayat Project Director Lokesh, Lead Bank district officer Gopinath, Syndicate Bank DGM N S R Somayaji and Nabard district Manager S Ramesh were present.
