Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada MP Nalin Kumar Kateel informed that the central government, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has released a grant of Rs 14,000 crore in the last four years for various development projects in the district of Dakshina Kannada.
Nalin gave this information on 'Chavadi Madipu', monthly phone-in programme conducted by All India Radio (AIR), Mangaluru on Saturday, July 14.
He also said that Rs 7,646 crore for the development of highways and Rs 1,243 crore for railway projects are being spent. In addition, Smart City and Amruth Yojana are also approved for the city of Mangaluru. Nalin also explained on the programme that 18,000 gas connections are given under the 'Ujwala' scheme. Rs 800 crore loan is distributed to over 50,000 people and 3.68 lac 'Jan Dhan' accounts are opened.
Nalin further said that 100 generic medicine centres have been opened, 97 gram panchayats of the district are selected for the 'Mission Anthyodaya' scheme which aims at eradicating poverty, Rs 6.28 crore for the 'Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan' and Rs 29 crores for high school education have been granted.
