Published On : 10 Jan 2018

Mangaluru: Additional district and session’s court sentenced Mithilesh Kamath (35), who attempted to murder a medical student. Mithilesh had introduced himself to the medical student as a graduate of The University of Sydney and a model and dance choreographer. He also spent time with her in the city. When the student finally saw through his lies, she started distancing herself from Mithilesh and lodged a complaint against him in Mangaluru North police station in March 20, 2014

The accused subsequently on April 9, 2014 forcibly entered the student’s house around 1 1am and stabbed her in a bid to murder her. When the student started screaming, the neighbours came to her rescue by breaking open the door and admitted her to hospital for treatment. Mithilesh too attempted to end his life by inflicting wounds on himself using the same knife.

The judge sentenced him to 1-year jail for causing grievous hurt with a knife and 3-months for attempting to commit suicide.
