Crossland College Brahmavar to host seminar, conference

Udupi: Department of Sociology, Crossland College, Brahmavar, on Tuesday, will host a UGC-sponsored inter-disciplinary seminar on women empowerment – trends and strategies, and paper presentation competition, on campus.

Graduate and post graduate students can participate in the seminar.

The seminar and competition is being organised in association with Mangalore Sociology Association, Mangaluru.

Dr Anitha Ravishankar, director, Centre for Women Studies, Mangalore University will inaugurate and deliver a key note address.

Prof Melwin Rego, president, Mangalore Sociology Association will be the chief guest of the valedictory function.

Each college can depute four students including paper presenters. The sub themes for paper presentation are NGOs and women empowerment, micro finance and women empowerment, women in work place, women and higher education, women and social media, violence against women, safety of girls in campus, government schemes for women empowerment and women in media.

One day conference for Principals

Crossland College, Brahmavar, will host a daylong conference on Wednesday, October 11, on the theme 'changing paradigms in administration of higher educational institutions'.The conference is for principals, vice principals and senior faculty members.

The UGC sponsored university-level conference is being held in association with the Association of First Grade College Principals, Mangalore University.

Prof Madhu Veeraraghavan, director of TAPMI, Manipal will inaugurate the conference and deliver the keynote address.

Prof Y Bhaskara Shetty, secretary, Private College Managements Association will be the chief guest of the valedictory function.

Prof Mathew C Ninan, director, Little Rock Indian School will hold a session on ‘Nothing matters in leadership as much as personal example'.

Dr P V Bhandary, psychiatrist Dr A V Baliga Memorial Hospital, Udupi will make a presentation on ‘stress management’.
