Puttur: A hotel building at Sampya in Aryapu village burnt down in an incident which occurred late night on Monday January 23.

The hotel is located by the side of Mani-Mysuru highway. Locals who saw flames rising from the hotel building at night, called the fire brigade. Sampya police and fire brigade from the town rushed to the spot, but their efforts to extinguish the flames did not succeed. As such, the building and items inside completely burnt down. Luckily, the fire did not spread to other buildings.

In addition to the hotel, furniture, cupboards, refrigerator, utensils, electrical and electronic equipment and other things were lost in this fire. The hotel building was old and it is felt that the wiring that too had become too old would have developed problems and caused short circuit. The loss has been estimated at five lac rupees.

Shantappa Gowda filed a complaint about the incident in Sampya police station. The police, who have registered a case, began investigating the incident.
