Udupi: In a tragic incident, a girl who was playing on a make shift swing made out of a sari died due to suffocation after the sari got tightened around her neck. This tragic incident happened at Katapadi. Abhijna (10) is the deceased.
Abhija was playing in a swing made from a sari near her home along with her elder sister and younger brother. As soon as she saw that Abhijna's life was in danger, her mother who failed to release the knot, shouted for help. Locals rushed to there, released the girl from the grip of the sari and rushed her to hospital. Reports said that the girl had died by then.
Abhija was a foruth standard student of St John's school at Shankarpura. Kaup police have registered a case of unnatural death.
