Gujarat violence

Published On : 28 Aug 2015

Ahmedabad, Aug. 27 (The Telephone): Gujarat High Court has asked Ahmedabad's police commissioner to file a report by Friday on yesterday's violence and police action on pro-reservation protesters, even as the state returned to normality with no report of any untoward incidents today, reports our special correspondent.

The violence led to the death of at least nine persons. The toll rose by one more today. The court's directive to commissioner Shivanad Jha followed a PIL. The Assembly was disrupted several times after the Opposition Congress wanted to know who ordered the police firing and baton-charge.
