Published On : 25 Apr 2017

Mangaluru: Members of the Action Committee for Landless People have begun their indefinite strike in front of the MCC office on Monday and have declared that they would continue the protest until their demands are fulfilled and sites were sanctioned. Vasanth Achari, District Secretary of the CPI(M) alleged that the list of landless in MCC limits includes those who already own lands, houses and have an income above Rs 50,000 thus neglecting the eligible beneficiaries.

This has done injustice to the people who do not own land, he said and urged the MCC to hold talks with the Committee at the earliest. The elected representatives have forgotten their assurances given to the landless people, the agitators alleged.

Sunil Kumar Bajal, District Secretary of CPI(M, Muneer Katipalla, State President of DYFI, Premanath Jalligudde, President of Action Committee for Landless People, Santosh, Prabhavathi and others were present.
