Kundapur: Locals at Halnad village in Kundapur stopped 12 lorries illegally transporting sand recently. They staged a protest and informed the Kundapur police.
Sand mining is banned in CRZ areas, but was permitted in certain areas. But it is alleged that illegal sand mining is rampant at Halnad village.
The Kundapur police rushed to spot and seized the lorries. A case has been registered.
